Blooming Hearts

Blooming Hearts
11x14"

I've been teaching a Funky Florals in Watercolor class the past few weeks. The concept is to paint unusual florals. We spent a few weeks painting the above painting. It is of artichokes in bloom.
The artichoke is usually picked to be eaten before it goes into bloom. Once it does bloom, the leaves start to harden and it becomes inedible because of this. The artichoke is native to the Mediterranean and are also seen along the West Coast of Canada and the US.

The last season we did in the Four Seasons class is Spring. It just seems a little more hopeful than what we are heading into right now.

Winter in Beacon Hill Park

I know it is a little early for snow but here is my winter scene for the Four Seasons class.
It doesn't snow very often in Victoria but I was fortunate it did just so I can paint this scene.

UVic Convocation

It's finally official! Yesterday was my graduation ceremony from UVic.
I now have the piece of paper that proves I am a Master.
Haha!

I really am grateful to all of you for cheering me on through 2 1/2 years of craziness while I juggled family, work, and school. I apologize if I seemed a little spacey at times and in my own little world. I probably was and think I still am.  I am an artist, after all.

As promised, here is another season from my four seasons course. It is Autumn.
The bridge is the same one in the previous painting but from a slightly different angle.

Summer at Beacon Hill Park

Summer at Beacon Hill Park

I am teaching a course on the Four Seasons in Watercolor. The idea of the course is to take the same/similar scene and to do it all the four seasons. The scene is the bridge at Beacon Hill Park in Victoria, BC. The first season we did was summer.
